If you’re familiar with Aging Room blends, you probably already know that the Quattro line is topping the charts. The Aging Room Core line, however, is holding down the bulk of the humidor. Aging Room Core Habano is one of the blends that make up this line, and it’s built around a delicious Dominican Habano wrapper. The rest of the cigar is also from the same country, so this Dominican puro is 100% DR from head to foot.
This type of blend is no surprise, given the team behind Aging Room. Not only is the now-famous Rafael Nodal selecting leaf for the brands, but one of his key collaborators is still closely involved. Jochy Blanco isn’t just a productive tobacco farmer, he heads up the Tabacalera Palma cigar factory in the Dominican Republic and was instrumental in helping Nodal find his first breakout blend.
Nodal wasn’t always famous, of course. There was a time when he wasn’t even in the cigar business! He worked in health care finance in Florida, but a chance encounter with Nick Perdomo and one of his La Tradicion cigars wound up pulling him onto another path. His first blends floundered (even geniuses don’t start with masterpieces), but once he hooked up with Jochy and his excellent Dominican tobacco, the Quattro took shape and the rest is history.
Now the team is exploring a variety of high quality blends like this.
The Aging Room Core Habano has classic Dominican flavors. It’s a medium-bodied smoke with flavors of earth, sweetness, and a hint of greenery. This is a straightforward blend from the Aging Room team – one that uses really nice DR tobacco – and is worthy of a smoke if you like Habano-seed leaf.
