When you’re traveling on a vacation, or maybe a camping or fishing trip, it can be a challenge to keep your cigars fresh and make sure that they don’t get crushed. You can’t exactly pack them in your luggage in a Ziploc, or they’re done for. And if you like Churchills and Lanceros, a glasses case won’t really do the job, either. In fact, even the mighty food storage container can come up short when you need a cigar case for traveling. It just doesn’t make sense to buy a $10 Cigar of the Year winner and then store it in the same thing that you use to store leftover flounder unless you like a “hint of the low tide” in your cigar smoke.
Thus the need for real cigar cases and travel humidors.
The cigar cases we sell solve all the issues you get when you don’t use the right equipment. Our cigar cases are strong, often made from tough molded plastic that you can bang around and not worry about breaking. That means that these cigar cases and travel humidors can go into a hiking bag or your luggage and hold their own. They’ll be right at home in a boat with your tackle box, too.
This raises another cigar case concern: you need one with a good seal. Many of ours feature sturdy locking latches. Some even float in case you like to get three sheets to the wind when you’re out on the water and tend to knock your cigar case overboard. You can also find cigar cases and travel humidors in our inventory that are waterproof up to a good depth, so your cigars are fully protected. This keeps outside air out and inside air in. You want your cigars to stay fresh for your whole trip, so cigar cases need to prevent air exchange as much as possible.
There’s also humidity to think of. You never know how long those cigars will have to stay humid or what the air conditions will be like at your destination. A good cigar case or travel humidor will have at least a simple humidification disc in the lid somewhere to keep your cigars moist and delicious for the moment when you finally are unpacked and can kick back. Just don’t forget that lighter and cutter in your cigar case!
You’ll definitely want to pick a cigar case size that works for you and your trip. Some folks only ever need 5 or so cigars, but if you are headed to a cabin for a month or something like that, there are cigar cases that hold 40 stogies. Or maybe you’re just going through three cigars a day, or you have a lot of moochers that you’ve decided to entertain? Whatever the reason, make sure you pick a case or travel humidor that has the capacity you need so you’re not cramming masterfully handcrafted premium cigars in too tight and busting the wrappers.
Lastly, there’s design. We usually have at least a few different looks to show you in our cigar case section – camo, orange, black, silver… you’ll probably see branded cases from some of your favorite companies, too. And if lady smokers keep on growing in number, we just might have a skull face with lipstick that says “Kiss my ash.”
But not yet, friends. Not just yet.
