Alec Bradley cigar samplers offer a ton of variety and a wealth of flavor. In these assortments, you’ll find highly rated cigars that knocked the (gartered) socks off the judges at Cigar Aficionado, routinely earning ratings in the 90s. You may even get to meet the 96-rated 2011 Cigar of the Year, the Alec Bradley Prensado. It’s a Honduran-powered wonder smoke with flavors of leather and spicy chocolate, and a finish that just won’t quit.
That’s another theme you’ll find when you shop for an Alec Bradley sampler: Honduran tobacco. While there’s plenty of Nicaraguan leaf in these cigars, one of the signature qualities of an Alec Bradley cigar is the use of Honduran tobacco.
It’s actually a matter of geography that fans of Nicaraguan tobacco might find surprising. Much Nicaraguan tobacco is grown in the Jalapa valley, but at the northern end of the valley, you cross the border into Honduras and an area called Trojes. Of course, the people there don’t stop growing tobacco just because there’s a national border. On both sides of the line, Mother Nature laid fertile soil that makes fantastic cigars. Honduran tobacco is often described in different terms than Nicaraguan leaf, but by looking at a map, one can see that there’s bound to be a ton of similarity.
Also, just over the same mountain range is Danli, Honduras, where you’ll find the Raices Cubanas factory where many Alec Bradley cigars are made.
