Manny Iriarte offers a succinct explanation of why his stuff is so darn good – the man loves what he does, for real. He was born with an eye for art, and his formal career (after a very successful time swimming and setting records for the Cuban national team) was launched with photography back in his home of Cuba – shots of aging colonial monuments, the fading imagery of Soviet influence, and the weathered faces of the island’s tobacco men. Opportunities can be limited in Cuba, prompting many to leave to seek their destiny elsewhere. Eventually, Iriarte found his way to America and collaborations with a variety of creatives. This included ad work for Carlos Fuente, Jr., among many other cigar companies.
This relationship expanded, and Iriarte was asked to design the back of a timepiece to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Arturo Fuente cigars. This led to a second similar project and grew into projects designing other accessories, like humidors, ashtrays, lighters, and more. What Manny calls the OpusX Society is a group of high-end Fuente luxury goods that we now think of as the Arturo Fuente Luxury Collection by Manny Iriarte.
