“Carlito” Fuente is always innovating, taking his blends to fascinating new places that delight the critics and often have fans raving. But not every stick becomes the newest cigar industry sensation. Some are premium smokes that fly under the radar.
In certain years, these mysterious cigars are released as part of the Arturo Unnamed Reserve line. We don’t always know exactly what type of leaves are used (although, knowing Fuente’s dedication to his home soil in the Dominican Republic, we can often hazard a guess), but we do know we’re getting cigars from a company that routinely tops the charts, year after year.
Here are some of the sticks we’ve seen so far under the Unnamed Reserve line:
2015 Arturo Fuente Unnamed Reserve 2015 is a fun mystery: nutty, spicy, tending towards medium-full in terms of strength and body. Found in boxes of twenty, featuring ten 5 1/2 x 48 Robustos and ten 6 x 50 Toros. It’s a great way to jump into Fuente and leave the hype behind, just focusing on the cigar itself; the aromas, the flavors, and the smoke.
2014 Arturo Fuente Unnamed Reserve 2014 is a meaty 6x60 cigar, unusual for the Fuente company. It features a golden brown wrapper. The cigar’s smoke offers an earthy, chocolatey flavor with some sweetness that reminds us just a tiny bit of breakfast cereal.
2013 Arturo Fuente Unnamed Reserve 2013 cigars took a turn into the sun, with a sungrown wrapper that lightened things up. The inside blend was very much like that in the celebrated, chart-topping Don Carlos line. Flavors of toast, nuts, a hint of pepper, and a light citrus finish made this one a fun trip to the House of Fuente. Boxes include ten 5 1/4 x 48 robustos and ten 5 3/4 x 50 toros.
2012 The first year we ever heard of this line was in 2012. The Arturo Fuente Unnamed Reserve 2012 cigars feature a sungrown wrapper – a Rosado. Inside, you’ll taste the celebrated and familiar Don Carlos filler blend (unmistakably delicious). We’re actually kind of surprised we have these left, but savvy smokers can pick up a wonderful offering from Arturo Fuente here. The cigar size is 5 3/4 x 48, and they come in 5-count boxes.
We have no clue what we’ll see from this line in coming years, but we know we’ll be excited to light it up!
