Ashton cigars are mostly the product of a longstanding collaboration between the Levin and Fuente cigar families. But it’s no surprise that one of the most popular lines under the Ashton umbrella is a triple collaboration (we’re really resisting the urge to call this a “three-way…” whoops, there it is)! Ashton Virgin Sun Grown (aka “Ashton VSG”) expands the circle to include the Oliva company, who provides the cigar’s Ecuadorian sun-grown Sumatra wrapper (an exclusive from Oliva estates). The reddish-brown leaf makes the Ashton VSG an incredibly attractive and inviting smoke.

The word is it took Carlos Fuente, Jr. about two years to develop this blend. Naturally, the core is 4-5 year aged Dominican long-fillers taken from his plants’ highest primings. That is, the leaves located towards the top of the tobacco plant stalk. The final smoke is full-bodied, rich, and flavorful, featuring notes of sweet dark chocolate, espresso, and toasted nuts. Ashton Virgin Sun Grown is a hit, reaching Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 list and earning ratings as high as 94. By all accounts, this is an exquisite smoke and one that offers the best efforts of a number of the cigar industry’s most successful professionals.
