A handful of years before Black Label Trading Company was founded by James and Angela Brown, James decided it was time to learn everything he could about blending tobacco since he couldn't find a cigar that fully satisfied his palate. At the time, the husband and wife team owned and operated an off-road adventure tour company that led multiple trips per year through Nicaragua. Indeed prime ground for James's studies! His hard work paid off, and soon he was blending cigars for his personal use and giving them away to clients.

These unbranded sticks were such a hit that these clients were soon close to shaking James down for more. As with all great entrepreneurs, he saw his opening and took it. Soon Black Label made its debut with an impressive release of six blends, among them was the Last Rites.

According to James, “Last Rites has always been a special cigar to me. It was the first cigar I blended on my own, and I blended it to my personal tastes. It’s everything I wanted out of a cigar and a perfect representation of Black Label Trading Co.”

Perhaps the name of this cigar pays tribute to the death of The Browns’ old life and their birth into the world of boutique cigars manufacturing? Or maybe it’s a nod to a new approach to traditional cigar production. We’re not sure, but we do know this bomb-ass smoke rips.

The blend in the Black Label Trading Company Last Rites incorporates aged spicy Nicaraguan and robust Honduran fillers. These rest in a Honduran binder. A dark, Ecuadorian Maduro wrapper pulls it all together. The construction is nearly flawless and produces a razor-sharp burn and easy draw.
