Long Live the King by AJ Fernandez cigars is a new take on one of the core concepts of Caldwell Cigars. When the company was first launched in 2014, this was one of the debut lines (along with The King is Dead and Eastern Standard). All have earned accolades and brought fans to the new brand, helping it carve out a reasonably impressive space in the market. Long Live the King, in particular, was a primarily Dominican cigar. It was made from high-quality leaf, not just from the DR. Long Live the King by AJ Fernandez cigars are not a revision to the original blend. AJ’s take on the concept uses an entirely new set of tobaccos. As you might expect, this one is also all Nicaraguan leaf, featuring a bright brown Habano wrapper. But where the original is a recognizable Dominican blend, this one is true to the soil of Nicaragua. You’re still getting a decent wood note of cedar, but now it’s joined by red pepper instead of the leathery core you would taste on the original. It’s a strong take on the concept and one that people who like potent smokes will want to give a shot.

The King isn’t going anywhere. In fact, with AJ’s help, he’s entering a whole new era of dominance.
