The company was originally founded by Turkish engineer-turned-pipe maker Aret Ozgener. Now, however, it’s chief blender Rick Rodriguez who leads the way. He’s the man responsible for the CAO Amazonia series that has been such a hit with cigar fans who love spicy exotic flavors. While he started on the sales side of the business, he was sent on a Batman-esque training mission that had him living in the Dominican Republic and Honduras each for six months while the cigar masters taught him everything he needed to know to get started crafting high-quality blends.
The lessons worked, and CAO cigar samplers now contain many of his successful blends. We happen to think the best is yet to come for CAO and Mr. Rodriguez, and eagerly await his next batch of releases.
