The Cavalier USA Regional Exclusive cigar might sound like a clunky name, but this is an absolute tobacco feast. Cavalier has revamped the existing USA Exclusive by adding a TON more into the blend, taking a straightforward peppery, earthy smoke and bringing in a wealth of additional notes.
It’s all about distinction. The initial blend was too closely related to other smokes that Cavalier makes. So now we’ve got something that won’t soon be confused for anything else.
Once, we had a simple Nicaraguan stogie with a Mexican wrapper. All we saved from that original is that nice dark, peppery cover leaf from the San Andrés valley. It provides a signature kick that is a key part of the flavor profile that the Cavalier USA Regional Exclusive cigar now brings. Under that, you get a Connecticut-seed Honduras binder – an unusual growing location for CT leaf, but there you have it. Then, there’s a filler blend that isn’t shy about mixing and matching. Nicaraguan leaf from Condega, Honduran broadleaf, some homegrown Pennsylvania, and Dominican Piloto are all on board, making for a cigar that is really built for the flavor hounds.
It’s leathery, meaty, peppery, and creamy in the way a spiced hot chocolate can be. In short, you’re getting a big draw and plenty to enjoy in each puff. Retrohale if you want to experience the additional layers that this gourmet meal brings. Cavalier is definitely looking to make an impression with this blend, and we think the marks they hit are quite interesting. It’s a cigar that stands independently, without a pairing. Of course, a nice iced coffee would be a good way to balance the heat and kick. Even a white Russian would be fun here if you’re in the mood for such a thing.
Just be ready for a cigar that speaks its mind.
