Cheap cutters are a no-nonsense type of accessory. No matter what cigars you’ve got in your humidor, you’re eventually going to need to clip the tip and get smoking. Without a cutter, you’re not going to be able to get the head of your cigar set for a puff session.
The thing is, your cutter doesn’t have to be expensive. A cheap cutter is often fine.
Not every cigar comes out of your humidor on a velvet pillow, brought to you by your own private cigar butler. You don’t always have to pull out your golden jewel-encrusted cigar scissors and gently cut off exactly 1/32 of an inch of length, confirmed by your NASA-engineered cigar measurement laser. You don’t need to have your own tasting orchestra play your favorite lighting song as you finally toast the foot of your cigar and take your first draw while Scorsese films it in all its cinematic glory.
No. Sometimes all you need is a cheap cutter. Clip, light, go. Pretty simple.
Cheap cutters are usually simple plastic accessories. That’s one of the ways the manufacturers can bring the price down low. Without all the fancy stainless steel, gunmetal, artwork, natural woods, or other expensive premium materials, they can avoid the luxury pricing that comes with them. Instead, plastic is about as cheap as you can get.
Our cheap cutters still come in a few varieties.
For people who love the basic guillotine cut, we have cheap plastic straight-cut cigar cutters. These feature two holes for you to put your fingers to spread apart the blades, making room for your cigar. Once you have just the right amount of length ready for removal, you bring your fingers together and the twin blades will make a cut for you.
Chop!
If you’re more of a v-cut person, we also have inexpensive v-cut cigar cutters. Instead of simply removing the head of your cigar, these create a v-shaped channel at the head of your smoke. Essentially, they remove a little trench of tobacco from your stogie, leaving you with two spots to put your lips that are still covered by the wrapper, with a place in between for you to draw smoke.
We leave it up to your preference which kind of cheap cutters you want to use, and simply stock both.
If you’re into huge ring gauges, we also carry a low-cost JetLine 70-gauge cigar cutter. This gives you enough room to jam in the huge stogies that are so popular nowadays. Now a big fat cigar won’t defeat your puny cutter – you’ll be ready for whatever monster smoke your favorite cigar company rolls up next to intimidate the weak. (If you buy an 80-gauge cigar, you’re going to need something else, though. We hear Home Depot has some economical hedge trimmers…)
