Oliva Serie O

First up is the Oliva Serie O, a blend that helped put Oliva on the big stage. Not only did the O series receive an incredible 94 rating—it was also named one of Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 Cigars of 2013. But securing top spots in Cigar Aficionado is nothing new to Oliva. They’ve had one yearly since 2005, with the exception of 2015.

Made in the tradition of Cuban cigars by using Habano seeds to grow quality tobacco in Estelí, Condega, and Jalapa Valley, this Nicaraguan puro will not disappoint. A tasty Habano binder holds the blend tight, and after a sun-grown Habano wrapper ties everything together, the stogie is ready to go to work.

Once you get this medium to full-bodied cigar burning, a blast of spiciness, earth, and cedar flavors hits your palate. Smoke the stick down a little further, and you’re getting sweet flavors along with a continuation of the earth, spice, and cedar notes. As things wrap up, the cedar is now the star of the show, along with flavors of nuts and coffee.

Oliva Connecticut Reserve

Next in the Oliva Mega Sampler is the Oliva Connecticut Reserve. If a mellow to medium-bodied smoke is what you’re after, look no further than this blonde beauty. Putting in work at the heart of this smoke are aged Nicaraguan long-fillers and a Nicaraguan binder. A smooth Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper sits on top and adds a creamy element to the mix.

This cigar starts with an initial flare of spice that you’d expect from a Nicaraguan cigar. Flavors of nuts, sweetness, cream, pepper, and cedar follow. Further down the stick, the nutty flavor picks up along with the addition of leather. The pepper and cedar notes remain. The cigar ends with nuts, leather, and coffee flavors—all in all, an excellent smoking experience.

Oliva Serie G
