Crowned Heads Ozgener Aramas

Ozgener Family Aramas cigars are the next entry into what is sure to be a beautiful portfolio of blends by the time it’s all said and done. This stogie comes from some tobacco men who have been successfully rolling up that sweet, spicy smoke almost since birth.

The first is Tim Ozgener, the former head of CAO and son of company founder Cano Ozgener. The second is the illustrious Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, the two-time Cigar of the Year winner that Ozgener tapped to be the blending partner for the Aramas. You really couldn’t pick a better man at this point. EPC is putting together such wonderful blends that working with him is a dream for many, and somehow he managed to find time in his busy schedule to plan the mix for these cigars.

Ozgener Family Aramas cigars bring together a rich Mexican San Andrés wrapper, an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder, and then a knockout long-filler blend of Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Connecticut broadleaf tobaccos. The flavor of the smoke is earthy and dark, with a core that’s a lot like a 70% cacao chocolate bar. Then there’s a pepper bite, which has a chipotle pepper quality to it. And finally, folks seem to insist that they’re getting a bit of creaminess.

This one is rich and complex, for sure. And we think there are quite a few more notes to enjoy as the stogie develops. The description of the Aramas here is just scratching the surface.

As for the name of the cigar, the Ozgener Family are ethnic Armenians, originally from Turkey. The name for this cigar combines the name of that region’s Mount Ararat with the peak’s name in Armenian: “Masis.”

When you want a smoke that’s going to grab you by your collar and slap you around a little.
