Saka Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust samplers offer a taste of the blends that qualified to meet the standard of “puros sin compromiso.” It’s a high standard that only allows the most flavorful and satisfying cigars to be sold in Dunbarton cigar samplers.
But why buy cigar samplers from a company that sounds like the name of a bank? What’s the deal with this brand?
Well, Dunbarton samplers come from a man whose pedigree is proven. Steve Saka was once upon a time the President and CEO of Drew Estate. He was at the top of the organization that made banger smokes like the exotic infused ACIDs and the complex Liga Privada No. 9. But success has a price, and for Saka that price was having to spend all day running a business when he’d rather have been focused on cigars, not necessarily strategy, operations, and administrative tasks.
Sometimes a guy just wants to work with tobacco and cigars, and running a cigar company gets in the way of that. For this reason, Saka Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust cigar samplers were almost never created. Saka walked away from the business and retired to his home in Dunbarton, New Hampshire.
It took about two years before that sweet, sweet leaf called him out of retirement and into business for himself. This time, he was going to do things HIS way, and so now we have Dunbarton cigar samplers.
The brand has established itself through a few interesting blends, like Umbagog, Sobremesa, Muestra de Saka, and Mi Querida. These cigars feature a number of different tobaccos, including leaf from Nicaragua, Pennsylvania, Ecuador, Mexico, and other nations. It’s a slow process – building up a company reputation – but Saka is more than up to the task.
Dunbarton samplers let you try out a number of the company’s leading blends in a few formats. A common choice is a sampler of five built around a particular cigar line. These Dunbarton 5-packs usually include a few different shapes and sizes of the blend, allowing you to explore the blend in a variety of different ways. It really gives you more opportunities to enjoy a particular mix. Something you didn’t love in a Churchill might be better as a corona. Or, if you’re into a particular blend, you get to compare it in all its forms, really finding out what the differences are between types of cigar rolls.
Dunbarton samplers are made by a man who loved cigars so much that he’d rather run a cigar company than stay retired. For us, that’s reason enough to pick one up.
