Erik Espinosa, founder of Espinosa cigars, grew up in Cuba. There, he held many of the jobs you can have in the cigar industry. Now, like many, he calls Estelí, Nicaragua home. There, he’s in good company along with industry leaders like My Father, Padrón, Oliva, and dozens of others.
But still, he remembers his island home of Cuba from years ago.
Espinosa Las 6 Provincias cigars are a tribute to the original six provinces of Cuba that were created by the Spanish colonial government in 1879. These are Camagüey, La Habana, Las Villas, Matanzas, Oriente, and Pinar del Río. Now, there are 15 provinces. However, the historic beginnings have left their mark on cigars forever.
It’s hard to keep our focus on the blends here because the presentation of Espinosa Las 6 Provincias cigars is absolutely off the charts. Cigar companies continue to outdo themselves when it comes to boxes and art, and this is a truly inspired collection. Partnering with Cuban artist Edin Gutierrez, who worked on Espinosa’s Warzone line, has made the Las 6 Provincias collection truly something special and totally eye-catching. This almost never happens, but we’re genuinely excited to see what they come up with next.
That’s a rare thing in the cigar industry. Real lighting in bottle stuff!
At the time of this writing, we’ve seen 3 releases for this line. Las 6 Provincias LHB was a swinging box on a stand. Las 6 Provincias MTZ looked like an inviting house window with working shutters. And the Las 6 Provincias LV is a painted curio cabinet with ten cigars each in individual coffins. Where it goes from here is anyone’s guess, but the line is full of promise. A man sharing the love of his homeland can do incredible things. It’s the kind of inspiration money just can’t buy.
Oh yeah, the cigars so far are delicious blends based on Nicaraguan tobacco. Unsurprisingly, they’ve got some great classic flavor profiles that traditionalists will love.
Please browse the collection and enjoy, but don’t be surprised if supplies run out fast. These look like the type of thing people will be jumping on as gifts with quickness!
