A.J. Fernandez (creator of the Man O’ War, Diesel, and San Lotano cigars, among others) helped design and produce the Foundation Highclere cigar. Outside, you’ll see the trademark Foundation Connecticut Shade wrapper, inside, you’ll see Foundation owner Nick Melillo’s Drew Estate roots present in the Brazilian Mata Fina binder and the Nicaraguan filler, which includes both Criollo and Corojo from the volcanic soils of Jalapa and the island of Ometepe. He says that the blend also features an exclusive hybrid seed that he calls “Nicadán,” with a flavor reminiscent of traditional tobacco leaf.
The resulting smoke is smooth and creamy, with a light spice finish, and subtle sweet and citrusy notes.
