They way you blend up a 94-rated cigar like the Illusione Ultra OP is simple. First, create a high quality line like Illusione’s Original Documents by finding the most intriguing small batch leaf and blending around it. Then, start to wonder what the line would be like if you tried to increase the body and complexity of the smoke. Keep the bold blend of Nicaraguan Corojo and Criollo, but then add that strong ligero leaf. In fact, add a couple of them from different regions. Then wrap it up in Colorado Rosado tobacco for the finish.

The Illusione Ultra OP turned out quite fine. Giolito was able to increase the potency of the blend without losing its character in a tidal wave of power. Instead, he found a way to make it even better, creating a cigar that puts out clouds of spicy, nutty, coffee and caramel-flavored smoke. It’s dense, chewy, and is somewhere in the medium-full range when it comes to body. This smoke is just super satisfying in every way.
As you might expect, Ultra OP is one of the company’s rarer blends. After all, there isn’t an infinite supply of top quality leaf to make blends like this. You have to wait and see what each crop yields on the particular farms that are making the necessary tobacco. So, if you see these sticks in stock and you’re interested in one of Illusione’s best blends, get them in your cart and scurry off. There’s no telling what tomorrow will bring.
