Cigars offer escapes to fit a variety of moments. There are smooth and mild smokes that people favor in the morning or for commutes… there are bold and spicy sticks that people pull out when they need something more substantial… there’s premium luxury smokes… standard yard ‘gars… and everything in between.
But sometimes, you just can’t choose.
In situations where you’re in the mood for something mild but also kind of want a little spice, there’s the Joya de Nicaragua Cabinetta Serie. It’s like picking a spouse: you might not want one who’s too spicy, but might also find an overly mild one boring – so you get one with both “modes.”
For you folks, here’s your dream girl/guy.
The Joya Cabinetta cigar features a dual wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed shade-grown tobacco leaf around the foot, and more punchy Nicaraguan Criollo at the head. This means that you start somewhat milder, and then, when things are getting dull, you progress into a spicier leaf when you’re ready for something more interesting.
Creamy, then peppery. Simple, right?
Overall, the cigar offers medium body smoke with a nice array of flavors including toasty wood, tangy vanilla, chocolate-covered raisins, and spice. This is a pretty nifty blend from a company that tends to stay fairly traditional. Will they become one of the next big experimental blend boutiques? Only time will tell, but we like where their heads are at with this kind of playful stick, and are looking forward to see what other fun tobacco products they come up with.
