The La Flor Dominicana Cameroon Cabinet cigar graced the Cigar Aficionado Top 25 list in 2012 at number #12 with a 93 rating. This is one super fine smoke, and with the 4-year aged Cameroon wrapper, it’s also quite interesting in terms of flavor. Spice, nuts, leather, and nougat all make appearances as you roast up this toothsome wonder, thanks in part to the Dominican and Nicaraguan filler blend.
Okay, so aside from it being a top-shelf smoke with a rich wrapper, what else do you notice? See some of the chisels? La Flor Dominicana pioneered that shape, and it’s become somewhat captivating to certain fans since it ever first hit the market. As the story goes, Litto Gomez, owner of La Flor Dominicana, was driving and smoking a cigar. As he chomped on his perfecto, one end eventually took on a squashed, somewhat rectangular shape. This intrigued Gomez, who challenged his team to create a cigar with that same interesting appearance.
They did, and La Flor Dominicana cigars had a new hit on their hands. But Cameroon wrappers aren’t the easiest thing to deal with. The leaf is notoriously hard to grow and also quite delicate. This means that, when it’s time to roll, it takes masterful hands to put everything together just right. One false move and you’ve got a ripped wrapper, which just isn’t acceptable when you’re making premium smokes. Fortunately, the torcedores at La Flor Dominicana know just what they’re doing, so the Cameroon Cabinet cigars come out lovely and well made, every time.
