With so many in-your-face bold cigars out there, you don’t want to forget how nice a gentle, mild smoke can be. “Suave” in Spanish means something like “soft” in English, and that’s the character of the La Flor Dominicana Suave cigar – it’s a smooth, easygoing smoke that you can enjoy and just relax with.
You can tell what this cigar is like just by looking at it. That blond Connecticut wrapper is as friendly as it gets – no intimidating Oscuro here. Then there’s the smell: a nice molasses sweetness comes off the tobacco, with a hint of earthiness underneath it thanks to the Dominican filler blend. Lighting it up is where the real fun is, of course. The distinctive note you’ll catch if you smoke a La Flor Dominicana Suave cigar is slightly buttery popcorn. It’s a little sweet, a little creamy, and a lot of the flavors that bring many into the cigar “hobby” in the first place.
This is a nice departure for La Flor Dominicana. Many of their lines feature a strong ligero blend with potent leaves that give their cigars full strength. While not at bold and spicy as the blends that a company like Camacho hangs their hat on, the effect is still impressive. But La Flor Dominicana Suave cigars take things in a gentle direction, and for that, we’re grateful.
