If you told Oscar Valladares 15 years ago that he’d soon be working for Rocky Patel and then go on to opening his own factory and producing the Leaf by Oscar brand, he’d probably think you were nuts. Oscar’s story is one of being in the right place at the right time. The funny thing is, it’s where Oscar didn’t want to be that led him to produce incredible blends like the Leaf by Oscar Connecticut cigars. Oscar didn’t want to be stuck working a desk job in the tourism industry in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. So when his manager asked him to drive the bus (he’d never driven a bus before) to pick up a group at the airport and drive them around for a few days, he didn’t hesitate.

As fate would have it, Oscar picked up Rocky Patel and a group to tour his factory. The two men hit it off, and Oscar would go on to work for Rocky for close to a decade before opening a factory of his own. The first Leaf by Oscar cigars were produced for Island Jim, owner of the Leaf & Bean cigar shop. The first 5,000 sticks sold out within a month, and in no time, Leaf by Oscar was in high demand.

When most people first lay eyes on Leaf by Oscar Connecticut cigars, they think there must be something wrong with the cigar. Perhaps they even think the roller was drunk.
