Long before producing Leaf by Oscar Corojo cigars, Oscar Valladares worked at a desk in the Honduran tourism industry. It wasn’t so much the industry that bothered him. It was sitting at a desk for hours on end. Well, one day, fate intervened when Oscar drove a bus for the first time to pick up a group from the airport. The group was there to tour a cigar factory, which belonged to none other than Rocky Patel. One thing led to another, and Oscar worked for Rocky for close to 10 years before opening a factory of his own and collaborating on the Leaf by Oscar brand with Island Jim.

No one would blame you if a friend handed over a Leaf by Oscar Corojo cigar and you thought it was a prank. At first glance, most of us have no idea what to do with this cigar. Before realizing what it is, the outer protective leaf, which helps keep the cigar fresh, appears to either be the wrapper leaf of a sloppily rolled cigar or worse. After discovering that this outer leaf is part of the plan, you’re pulled into the experience with an appreciation (and relief!) for this unique approach.
