Line of Duty 470 cigars honor the fallen police, firefighters, and soldiers who passed on 9/11. The death toll claimed 470 of our nation’s bravest, and this is a stogie to smoke in their memory. A portion of the proceeds from selling all Line of Duty cigars goes to support charities for these professionals. 470s commemorate our collective loss and are a method of fundraising for those still putting themselves on the front lines to this day.
The company was founded by a man close to the tragedy, retired New York City police detective Tom Werther. The project is a way for him to “give back to all of the brave men and women that have made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may live freely” – surely something we can all get behind.
Line of Duty 470 cigars are available in twins, meant to be shared with a buddy. They’re also quite nicely done, with a colorado and Maduro barber pole-style wrap made from Ecuadorian and Brazilian tobacco. A tip of the lighter to the rolling team down at Black Label’s Oveja Negra factory in Estelí that put these stogies together.
Like many other Line of Duty cigars, the inside is quality Nicaraguan leaf. You really can’t go wrong, there.
Get these cigars lit, and you’ll be treated to a fairly complex blend of flavors, including chocolate, cashew, pepper, and cream. A bit of Brazilian tobacco almost always takes a blend to another level, and the 470 gets a nice kick from it. Of all the first waves of LoD cigars, this may be the most intriguing (not necessarily the best, but it will have your taste buds awakened).
We, the lucky ones, are still here. And we shall never forget the fallen. This one’s for those we’ve lost along the way.
