Another exquisite smoke in the Oliva Serie V line! This time, we’ve got a Maduro-wrapped version of the phenomenal 96-rated 2014 Cigar of the Year.
Boy, those “Melanio” leaves sure are all the rage, aren’t they?
Well, first of all, Melanio is a guy, not a leaf.
He’s the great great (and maybe more) granddaddy of the company who got things kicked of ages ago in Cuba. The family ultimately fled the revolution and made their way to Nicaragua, where they spent one year after the other cultivating tobacco and learning everything there is to know about reach region and the quality of the leaves it produces. Eventually, this turned the Olivas into master growers and blenders of Nicaraguan tobacco.
The original Serie V was released in 2006, and it turned out to be an exceptional cigar, earning 94 ratings across multiple decades. Not satisfied with a tremendously consistent, world-class blend, the company created the Serie V Melanio, which took the Olivas straight to the top. Now, the blend is back in a Mexican San Andrés Maduro wrapper to bundle up the rich, aged Nicaraguan tobacco inside. A spicy pepper kick, along with earth, walnut, and café cubano flavors round out the cigar’s profile.
There are no bad options amongst Serie V smokes, so if you enjoy Maduros, give this one a try. It’s another luscious offering in a world-class line.
