Onyx Reserve cigars are a reblended version of the Onyx series. Master blender Jose Seijas was tapped to develop a cigar with more body and flavor than the original. If you don’t know the name Jose Seijas, certainly you know his cigars. Over the years, he has developed highly-acclaimed blends for Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, H. Upmann, and more, so you know you’re in good hands with Onyx Reserve cigars.
The flavors of Onyx Reserve cigars are black cherries, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and cinnamon. What makes this fine smoking experience possible starts with a filler blend comprised of Nicaraguan, Dominican, and Peruvian tobacco. These are tucked into a Nicaraguan binder which is then covered by an oily pitch black Connecticut broadleaf wrapper.
We are particularly intrigued by this cigar’s use of Peruvian tobacco. Peru’s fertile soils deliver superb, complex tobaccos with a ton of body and spice that remains smooth, never crossing the line into harshness. Peruvian tobacco is often used as a small portion of the overall blend—as in the Onyx Reserve—adding both complexity and balance.
The Onyx Reserve received an impressive 94 rating from Cigar Aficionado. It’s wild to see such a highly rated cigar at such a value price. Of course, we’re not complaining—we’re celebrating! We are huge supporters of high-quality premiums at a price you won’t come close to regretting. The Onyx Reserve is a fine smoke that you do not want to miss.
