It’s no secret that Oscar and his team have a deep passion for their roots. Namely, according to their website, “our Honduran ancient roots, especially the Mayan Empire in Copán, which have a fascinating story, and its where the tobacco roots came from. We created our rendition of the most important monument in Mayan history, Altar Q.” The impressive packaging for the Oscar Valladares Altar Q cigar is a replica of this altar’s imagery and the monument’s concept. Each cigar within represents one of 16 Copán rulers. They are placed in the box in the same order as the monument.
On the outside of Oscar Valladares Altar Q cigars, you’ll find a Hershey syrup brown Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. This wrapper boasts a good deal of oil and a small pigtail cap. Ecuadorian Sumatra wrappers are known to deliver deep, complex, robust flavor profiles. This is achieved by using the mid and upper primings of the tobacco plant.
It’s hard to declare the coolest thing about Oscar Valladares Altar Q cigars, but the filler and binder tobaccos coming from the Copán region of Honduras is definitely up there. Damn, this cigar stays on brand. Once you get it burning, expect notes of citrus, coffee bean, hay, and worn-in leather. None of us will ever be Mayan rulers, but at least now we can smoke like one!
Please enjoy Oscar Valladares Altar Q cigars at your leisure.
