Perhaps it’s because we want food that we’re going to eat directly to be clean, but something we’re going to smoke is held to a different standard? After all, who thinks of wanting a clean product when you’re smoking?

Plasencia started working on organic tobacco projects right out of school in the late 90s. It took a lot of trial and error, but he eventually found workable methods to use only what nature provides in the farming of the tobacco for this cigar.
Cooling. Instead of fumigating bales of tobacco leaf with chemicals, the tobacco is kept cool.
No pesticides. Instead of pesticides for bug control, Plasencia uses wasps and garlic (no, really!).
No chemicals. Then there’s the issue of black shank, which ruins roots of tobacco plants. By using Trichoderma fungus, Plasencia can shield the roots and improve water retention and nutrient absorption.
No unnatural fertilizer. And finally, instead of fertilizer, the Reserva Original uses a variety of natural products to feed plants.
The result of course is smaller, more expensive leaf yields, but the benefit is that it’s all done completely naturally, del suelo al cielo. That is, “from the soil to the sky.”
The Reserva Original is a Nicaraguan puro that offers rich flavors of nuts, fruits, and caramel with marzipan and cedar on the finish. It’s a beautiful product that comes right from the earth – one the company can be proud of – and one we can all feel good about lighting up.
