Oh Lord, the flavors! This one is so damn tasty we shouldn’t even sell them. We should just sit around all day drawing on Vintage 1992 cigars and drinking brown liquor. But then, of course, we’d start to run out of money and would soon wind up divorced with nothing but ourselves, endless free time, and a big stack of 1992s.
If we think about it long enough, we can probably even find a downside somewhere in there!
Anyhow, this one took a fitting 92 rating from Cigar Aficionado. It’s quite similar to the beloved Vintage 1990, and uses the same Nicaraguan and Dominican filler blend. The difference is the glorious 10-year aged Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, which throws the flavors into an entirely new world of tastes: bright cedar, creamy almond, orange peel, and baking spice. This is grandma’s kitchen, if grandma was an abuela cooking with tobacco instead of flour, sugar, and butter.
The Vintage Series is a pretty critical set of blends for Rocky Patel. These early cigars really helped him cement a reputation for high quality blends and interesting cigars that were worth the effort to acquire and smoke. When we sit back for a cigar, we usually have at least a half hour set aside, and are looking to really relax and unwind. Getting a cigar that is a disappointment really wrecks the whole mood, so that’s a big reason many of us cling to favored brands and why it feels like such a betrayal when we come across a stick that doesn’t deliver.
Suffice to say, this one delivers reliably.
