Former marine and musician Matt Booth founded Room 101 in Los Angeles in 2003. At first, the brand only sold small collections of jewelry designed and produced by Booth in an effort to support his music career. The collections sold well, and Room 101 developed a cult following. So much so that the brand started to attract the attention of those outside the fashion industry. One of these people was Dylan Austin, who at the time worked in marketing for Camacho.
Austin worked closely with Booth to bring Room 101 into the cigar industry. Before long, Booth had his own brand of cigars and a new variety of cult followers. While these cigars were under the Camacho umbrella, in 2009 Booth founded Room 101 Cigars with the intent to honor the rich traditions of cigar making while “applying a progressive approach to both blending and product design.”
Matt Booth had little to no cigar knowledge before joining forces with Camacho. After working with Austin in the first Camacho factory in Honduras for several years, he gained the knowledge needed to perfect the first Room 101 cigars. The cigars rolled out one after the other, and the brand continued to gain momentum. Booth looks back on the era as the “golden age of boutique brands.”
From the get-go, the boutique Room 101 brand gained the respect of cigar traditionalists and new enthusiasts. Room 101 Cigars was somewhat reincarnated in 2017 by launching several high-level partnerships with A.J. Fernandez, the Caldwell Cigar Company, and others.
We’re sure you’re aware of some of the leading Room 101 cigar blends. There’s the Room 101 Big Payback Maduro cigar which uses a Connecticut broadleaf Maduro wrapper and a Connecticut shade binder to deliver a double Connecticut smoking experience. Then there’s the Room 101 Doomsayer cigar which incorporates a bit of Pennsylvania tobacco into the core blend to help provide stateside smokers with a tiny taste of the USA in a smooth medium strength smoke.
Whatever your pleasure is, Room 101 cigars offer you a way to get that and more.
