El Septimo Sacred Arts Botticelli cigars are part of a seven-blend series crafted to honor great artists and their finest works, as well as the seven days in the biblical story of creation of the world.
This formidable 7 x 58 salomon is crafted using tobaccos known only to El Septimo. We can say that the wrapper leaf is oily and dark, and that this stogie is absolutely packed. Many blends from this company feature Costa Rican tobacco, so don’t be surprised if some of that is in there. There’s also a good amount of aged leaf used in the company’s premium showcase blends, so fans of mature tobacco will probably find something to like, here. And at the end of the day, this salomon a real showstopper of a shape. This is a special stogie, for sure.
The team who made this particular cigar drew inspiration from Sandro Botticelli’s painting The Announcement. Botticelli painted several works on the Christian theme of The Annunciation. One is currently at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, for stateside folks who want to get a look at it in person. It depicts the moment when Archangel Gabriel told the Virgin Mary that she had been chosen to bear the Christ child. She accepted, and the rest is religious history.
Aside from that, the El Septimo Sacred Arts Botticelli cigar also honors the third day of creation told of in Genesis when God separated dry land from the seas, and on it, he brought forth plants, like seed-bearing fruit. We wonder when He first raised up tobacco. Anyhow, we’re glad he did. It’s quite a nice plant, all things considered.
The blend winds up being a bit earthy but also imparts a flavor of graham cracker or cereal to the smoke. You also get something bright and fruity like cherries or citrus in the mix. These notes seem quite fitting for the third day of creation, actually. Not a bad coincidence, if it wasn’t planned that way.
El Septimo also points out that the Super Bowl Champion Los Angeles Rams in 2022, including Quarterback Matt Stafford, celebrated their win by lighting up Botticellis at the victory parade. If it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for us, too.
