San Cristobal is a partnership between the Levin family, owners of Ashton Cigars, and the Garcias, illustrious makers of My Father Cigars. Initially, it began as a simple way for Ashton to properly branch out from Dominican blends into Nicaraguan ones. The venture has enjoyed impressive results and has grown beyond the initial blend into several delicious and fantastic stogies that each stand on their own merits.

But until now, there was no dark, earthy stick to satisfy people who want one of those peppery maduros.

The long-filler blend is a Garcia signature: premium Nicaraguan tobacco. In particular, the leaves used here are among some of the most aged available in the Garcia aging vaults. This contributes a mature but mellowed-out complexity to the taste of the smoke. This then is wrapped in Mexican San Andrés Oscuro tobacco. This cover leaf is triple fermented and has been aged for two-and-a-half years to bring it to a new level of flavor.

It’s a rare blend that offers something different from the core Cubanesque wheelhouse you generally get from Don Pepin and co. The taste of the San Cristobal Ovation brings in dark cocoa and zesty notes of hickory and black pepper with a maple barbeque finish that will smash your lips.
