Viaje Skull and Bones cigars have taken many, many forms over the years. This isn’t a basic, stable line. Instead, each season, it gets new releases, shapes, sizes, and tobaccos… the details are rarely shared with anyone.
It’s a mysterious cigar line, to say the least.
We get a few hints about what’s going on under the Capa of each of these boutique Viaje Skull and Bones cigars – they’re often named after bombs and explosives, though. Over the years, going back to 2010, we’ve seen the Daisy Cutter, WMD, Fat Man, and MOAB. In later releases, things moved in the superhero direction with Ghost Rider, Bruce Banner, the Hulk, Mephisto, and more. There’s also the total enigma M?stery blend.
There isn’t even anything on the band of that one. It’s just black.
For people who enjoy secret blends, Viaje Skull and Bones cigars are a draw. Over time, the brand has gathered a following who know that Viaje’s small-batch approach has led to some fantastic smokes, with plenty of 90+ ratings to show for the company’s hard work. It’s this reputation that these cigars are riding on. There’s just not much else to say.
Where did the tobacco come from? Unknown, although Nicaraguan leaf has been featured in previous releases. What’s the flavor profile like? It’s often complex, powered by a full-strength selection of tobaccos. Peppery, woody and earthy are all common hallmarks of Viaje Skull and Bones cigars, but you can’t be quite sure until each season’s release hits our lighters. For the 2020 M?stery, it was definitely true. Rich and scotchy, that blend really showed why these are almost always worth picking up if you’re a smoker who likes unique flavors.
The history we’re not sure about. Given the usage of bombs in the names, we’re thinking it’s less a pirate think and more about the top-level political decision-makers who give the orders to drop said bombs, and who are often members of Yale’s Skull and Bones society. If you want a good read, go Google that and head down the rabbit hole of the Bonesmen who call the Tomb their home away from home.
We can’t promise anything about the cigars themselves, except for the fact that Viaje knows its business and always gives us something special in their undisclosed blends. It’s an uncertain world. Smoke it!

People who are willing to take a leap of faith and smoke a cigar with little to no information to go on, other than the fact that Viaje’s talented boutique blenders think a smoke you won’t regret.
