We can have a bit of a love/hate relationship with certain cigars sometimes.
One the one hand, they’re an exquisite escape that we look forward to at the end of the day or on the weekend. They might even be our favorite part of the day or the week! Cigars are something that we can rely on to provide an island of relaxation or comfort in a stressful world.
But do they have to be so luxurious?
Some cigars make it so clear that they’re born of ultra-premium manufacturing methods, and they’re targeted at a class of people that we, by definition, can’t all belong to. It can be annoying to look at dudes in well-tailored suits drinking $300 a bottle scotch, smoking top-shelf stogies, and relaxing on the patio of a country club that’s impossible to even drive onto the grounds of without an invitation.
Now, the Cloud Hopper cigar is not crazy expensive, but it is named for a lifestyle that most of us can’t relate to (unless we’re pilots). Warped founder Kyle Gellis and his brother Devin both love travel and sometimes think of themselves as “cloud hoppers.” This is Devin’s foray into the world of cigar making.
The Cloud Hopper cigar follows the tried and tested Warped formula: a Nicaraguan Corojo ’99 wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder leaf, and then a long-filler blend of Nicaraguan Corojo '99 and Criollo '98. The smoke feels medium bodied and has an interesting, rich flavor profile. Toast the foot and take a pull for the tastes of bitter dark chocolate, creamy oak, light pepper, and a hint of floral sweetness. Then send a smoke ring into the sky – you might even catch Devin and Kyle headed off on their next adventure.
