El Septimo Luxus Small Sabor Blue cigars are tasty little numbers that are part of a fairly grand blend line from an ambitious company. The Luxus line includes ten blends, of which three are “Blues” (Rebelde Blue and Bullet Blue join the Small Sabor to complete the sibling photo).

In general, Luxus is focused on aged tobacco, dark wrappers, and quite a few interesting shapes and sizes. The aging is quite extensive, so you can get a lot of complexity out of a ton of these cigars, including this one.

Small Sabor is a short torpedo, measuring 3.5 x 54. It’s not meant to knock you over. El Septimo refers to it as “a very subtle cigar, but also very hearty.” We take this to mean that Small Sabor Blue cigars offer nice flavor and an enjoyable smoke, but don’t push down too hard on the strength accelerator. In fact, this one is listed at mild-medium and seems to smoke up that way. You still get a lot out of it, though. El Septimo describes the experience by saying, “As the smoker enjoys the cigar, the flame expands, resulting in impressive ventilation and an increase in both the cigar’s force and structure.”

In other words, it has nice development.

El Septimo adds that, with Small Sabor Blue cigars, “the last third of the smoke is truly delightful.” You can expect a short-format smoke that delivers an interesting, captivating smoke session while it lasts.

The tobacco specifics are, as with so many El Septimo blends, a mystery. We know that the line is built around aged leaf and often uses Costa Rican tobacco, but more details are not available. That dark wrapper clearly plays a part in the flavors of lightly sweet espresso and black pepper that make the Small Sabor worthy of setting fire to.

The cigar may be small, but the sabor (“flavor”) is truly grande!
