This Montecristo Crafted by AJ Fernandez Limited Edition Toro cigar is made in Nicaragua. Outside, you'll find an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. Inside, the binder is San Andres, and the filler is Honduran and Nicaraguan. The Montecristo Crafted by AJ Fernandez Limited Edition Toro is a Full-Bodied Toro-shaped cigar with a length of 6.00 and a ring gauge of 50.
We’ll start with the obvious: AJ Fernandez is everywhere in the modern cigar industry. The man knows many people, works with many, and builds beautiful blends. And that, of course, is why he’s everywhere. The dude is great at what he does, and people want to collab with a very skilled tobacco man.
Even legends like Montecristo.
And so we have this limited edition Montecristo Crafted by AJ Fernandez cigar.
This L.E. builds on the already established stogie that hit the market some years ago. You’ll still find a similar formula, which is good news if you liked the initial release. AJ’s carefully-curated Nicaraguan long-filler tobacco is still at the heart of things. This then is bound with Mexican San Andrés leaf wrapped in Ecuadorian Sumatra.
The flavor of the Montecristo Crafted by AJ Fernandez Limited Edition toro is not as potent and heavy as you might get from other AJ blends. This is a touch more restrained but still quite flavorful, offering a relatively earthy profile of black espresso, cocoa, and holiday spice. It puts out plenty of smoke, prompting one reviewer to deem it a “smoke bomb.” It’s also a decently sized format in the toro at 6.00 x 50, so ensure you’ve got time to enjoy it from start to finish correctly.
A classic heritage brand gets an assist from a modern blending all-star. We’re on board to puff that combo any day of the week.
