This Tatuaje Cohetes Habano cigar is made in Nicaragua. Outside, you'll find an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. Inside, the binder is Nicaraguan, and the filler is Nicaraguan. This is a Petite Robusto cigar with a length of 4.00 and a ring gauge of 50.
This little “rocket” is taking off, with all the charm of a Cuban original.
To understand this cigar, you have to go back a little. Tatuaje Cohetes Habano cigars were one of the early offerings when the company was just getting started. This is just when the first blends were just a twinkle in the eye of some guy named “José Garcia.” Those blends worked out pretty well. Now we call him the two-time Cigar of the Year blender “Don Pepin” of My Father Cigars.
And Pete Johnson’s Tatuaje is a household name in the cigar world.
Due to FDA regulations, it’s become hard to launch a new cigar, so re-releasing old ones is the way to go. The good news is that the reborn Tatuaje Cohetes Habano is a real treat. It’s filled with rich Nicaraguan tobacco and has a wonderful earthy, spicy flavor. These were always blended to be old-school takes on a great cigar. We’d say they’re hitting the mark and then some.
Tatuaje Cohetes comes in a few other wrapper varieties. There’s a Connecticut broadleaf and an Ecuadorian Sumatra if you prefer different flavor profiles. But if you like it classic, the Habano will do you just fine. With the My Father factory rolling them up, there’s really no way to go wrong.
If you want ‘em – get ‘em soon. Johnson says Tatuaje Cohetes goes on hiatus for a few years after the run sells out!
