The Tatuaje Shaggy Pumpkin is a cigar that was reblended for the Cigar Rights of America Freedom Sampler in 2021. It’s not the company’s first pumpkin cigar (the Great Pumpkin has already undergone two evolutions at the time of this writing). Tatuaje founder Pete Johnson explained that the revisions keep the line interesting and also turned the Shaggy Pumpkin into an exclusive for the sampler.
What’s the sampler all about? Well, not only is it packed with top-shelf cigars (no, really, there’s Fuentes, Padróns, My Fathers, Ashtons… it’s PACKED), but it supports an important industry organization. According to its website, the “CRA is the first and only consumer-based, a public advocacy group fighting to protect the individual’s right to enjoy premium, hand-rolled cigars.” When you purchase the sampler, you get a year’s membership to the organization.
Here, you can buy a Tatuaje Shaggy Pumpkin all by itself. This 6 x 52 toro features an unwrapped or “shaggy” foot. There’s no cover leaf on a small section of filler leaf that pokes out at the foot of the cigar. When you light it up and draw, it lets you taste the filler blend first solo before it’s joined by the wrapper.
These cigars are produced at My Father Cigars in Estelí, Nicaragua, so you know they’re the real deal. Pick them up when you’re in a fall or Halloween mood. They’re not pumpkin-flavored, but they definitely put us in the right frame of mind for the autumn season.
