This Tatuaje Tuxtla Limited Edition Avion 13 Perfecto cigar is made in Nicaragua. Outside, you'll find a Mexican San Andres wrapper. Inside, the binder is Nicaraguan, and the filler is Nicaraguan. This is a Perfecto cigar with a length of 6.88 and a ring gauge of 52.
Tatuaje Tuxtla Limited Edition Avion 13 cigars take a longstanding blend the company has offered for years and give it a fresh flavor profile. They’ve really shaken off the cobwebs with this one, although we suspect there will be a healthy debate about whether the original Avion is better than this new take on things. It has routinely charted over 90 points, so there are some big bands to fill here.
The Tuxtla series brings a new wrapper to some of the company’s popular blends – the Avion, 7th, and T110. While the last Avion had a really nice broadleaf wrapper, this one features Mexican tobacco grown near San Andrés Tuxtla. It’s a city in the state of Veracruz, stretching along the country's eastern coastline by the Gulf of Mexico. This is where most Mexican cigar tobacco is grown, but we usually only hear the “San Andrés” portion of the name.
Under the wrapper of this box-pressed perfecto is a rich mix of Nicaraguan tobacco that provides the foundation of the blend. Toasting it up offers the definite taste of cocoa in the smoke, along with a host of other notes like cinnamon and leather. It compares well to the original stogie and provides a nice comparison. This one is definitely more peppery and gives us something with a far more lively personality. Both are quite good, and no doubt will satisfy different types of smokers. But those who want a punch will probably enjoy this new edition of the Avion.
