At the time we’re writing this brand description in 2021, Southern Draw cigars were planned for even more years than they’ve been operating. Founder Robert Holt, who works closely with his wife Sharon, is clearly a man who likes to prepare thoroughly. Perhaps he learned it during his service in the U.S. Army? Anyhow, for 8 years he and his team put together the strategy that would take Southern Draw cigars from its launch in 2014 into the first years of operation.
Clearly, he did his job well, as Southern Draw cigars are a hot commodity and the brand’s reputation for high-quality smokes is growing with every puff. This is thanks to popular tasty blends like Rose of Sharon, Kudzu, and Jacob’s Ladder.
Southern Draw is about classic southern values of inclusion and treating others with respect – ladies and gentlemen living out a culture of honor one virtuous action at a time. The Holts also weave their faith into their business, using the motto “Soli Deo Gloria” to remind them to give glory only to God alone. They also live out the challenge of loving their neighbor like themselves by supporting charitable projects like IGNITE, which is focused on helping first responders and members of the military, and 300 Hands, which gives back to the communities that grow tobacco and roll Southern Draw cigars.
The Holts found a world-class partner in AJ Fernandez, who creates Southern Draw cigars in Nicaragua for distribution through the Holt’s home state of Texas. Fernandez works on the “draw” part of the brand, ensuring that each puff is flavorful, satisfying, and comes through a well-made cigar.
Southern Draw cigars include the core line of sustainable bestsellers, the value line of premium affordable smokes like the Quickdraw, and other special blends that the team creates. So far, they’re off to a fantastic start, if we do say so ourselves. We’re really interested to see where this company is headed, and we eagerly await their yearly releases.
